Legal Counsel Edinburgh
We are looking for a Legal Counsel, to work primarily for Business Area Wind and Business Area Distribution part of the Vattenfall Organisation.
Vattenfall is one of Europe's largest electricity generators and producer of heat and operates in Sweden, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands and the UK. We exist to help all our customers power their lives in ever climate smarter ways and aim to be free from fossil fuels within one generation. The renewables business in the UK has been established for a number of years and continues to grow for offshore and onshore wind, solar and battery storage projects. We are also a regulated independent distribution network operator (IDNO) and private wire operator, owning and maintaining electrical network infrastructure to ensure safe and reliable supplies for our customers. We therefore have a need for an experienced Legal Counsel in our UK Legal team to work closely with these two businesses.
Your responsibilities as Legal Counsel
As the demand for legal expertise in our renewables and network businesses continues to grow, we are looking to recruit for our Legal team in the UK. You will mainly be dedicated to our renewables and distribution projects within the UK assisting on the full remit of legal matters including development, property, grid, supply chain and regulatory issues, however you will also be expected to work on corporate matters and for other areas of our business in the UK. You will report to the Director of Legal, UK and work closely with the two businesses.
The remit is diverse and challenging and you will need to be commercially aware, pragmatic and able to work effectively under pressure. You will be an exceptional and talented individual with good communication and interpersonal skills and be able to work independently as well as part of a team. You will have extensive experience of negotiating and structuring contracts in the renewables and distribution markets.
Your qualifications as Legal Counsel
You will be an English or Scottish qualified lawyer, with solid commercial experience gained at a respected law firm or in-house with over 6 years' PQE. Ideal candidates will have experience in renewable energy and distribution matters.
